Love Frankie Exhibit at Grand Designs Live 2024
We are absolutely thrilled to share our exhilarating experience of exhibiting at our very first Trade Show at Grand Designs Live! This event truly was the ultimate destination for home renovation and inspiration, held at the iconic Birmingham NEC. Over five unforgettable days, we immersed ourselves in a treasure trove of creativity, discovering hundreds of exceptional companies dedicated to building, kitchens, interiors, and gardens.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the beloved TV show, we were honoured to be part of GD25. This special occasion marked the launch of their new book, showcasing some of the most iconic grand designs from the past quarter-century. Among these remarkable projects was “The Tree House,” nestled in the picturesque Isle of Wight from series 10. We were fortunate enough to adorn this stunning home with a selection of Love Frankie Lampshades that perfectly complemented its unique charm.
The Tree House not only captured our hearts but also earned recognition as one of Kevin McCloud’s Top Ten Grand Design Projects. It was a proud moment for us when it clinched both the Architect’s Journal Small Build Award in 2011 and the RIBA 2011 (Isle of Wight) Award. Being part of such an illustrious event filled us with passion and excitement as we connected with fellow enthusiasts who share our love for innovative design and beautiful spaces!
The Grand House
We were absolutely thrilled to meet so many new faces at Grand Designs Live at the Birmingham NEC! The atmosphere was electric, buzzing with creativity and inspiration. From interior designers and contractors to suppliers and fellow lighting enthusiasts, it was a melting pot of passionate individuals who share our love for design.
One of the top highlights for us was undoubtedly The Interiors Stage, hosted by the wonderful Deirdre McGettrick, founder of ufurnish.com. Over five fabulous days, she welcomed more than 30 home expert presenters who shared their insights and expertise. We caught several talks that ranged from perfecting the art of matching wall colours to furnishings in your home, to hands-on tips for upcycling furniture like a pro.
Meeting Avalana from Avalana Designs at Grand Designs Live was a real treat- After being long-time friends on Instagram, it was incredible to finally connect in person. Avalana is an unbelievable talent, renowned for her stunning hand-painted watercolours that are transformed into fabulous murals.
We also managed to catch Max McMurdo. His passion for design, sustainability, and innovative architecture and interiors shines through in every conversation.
Meeting the wonderful Siobhan Murphy from Interior Curve was another standout moment. As an alumni of Interior Design Masters, she is truly smashing it with her vibrant range of colourful, maximalist homewares. A true lover of colour after our own hearts!

The Grand House
Another highlight was undoubtedly the Grand Designs House, a marvel that drew in visitors eager to witness its brilliance. This house, built by the visionary team behind Grand Designs Live, was not just a structure; it was designed to educate and inspire every single person who stepped inside.
As you wandered through its rooms, you were greeted with stunning, innovative designs that showcased the very best of modern architecture. It wasn’t just about aesthetics; this house served as a beacon of hope for those looking to decarbonise their homes. Attendees discovered practical ways to harness renewable energy generation while indulging in cutting-edge luxury—proving that sustainability and style can indeed go hand in hand.
And let’s not forget the main shout-out that everyone was buzzing about: the legendary Murdo! His generosity with free cocktails added an extra layer of enjoyment to an already exhilarating (and exhausting) experience.
Thank you to everyone who visited us, especially our ticket competition winners!
it was great to meet so many new faces and we hope to see you there again next year.
